Georges Creek event kicks off in September

WESTERNPORT, Md. - Current ticket holders of the Experience Georges Creek photo charter series will gather in Westernport, Md., on September 21, 2024 to meet with Western Maryland Scenic Railroad personnel, visit the Georges Creek rail line in Westernport, and participate in a night photo session featuring the railroad’s Western Maryland-painted EMD GP9 No. 25. The event is part of a series of photo-focused charters made available only to ticket holders of the Experience Georges Creek photography trips.

The September event, which is not open to the public and requires a ticket to attend, is the first in a series of several events that will provide photographers special access to the Georges Creek Division of the WMSR. Ticket proceeds directly benefit the WMSR’s efforts to rebuild the 13-miles Georges Creek Railway, which began earlier this spring and is expected to continue through the end of 2024.

Experiences Georges Creek is a one-time purchase for an all-inclusive ticket to participate in several photography charters on Georges Creek. Our series will include periodic visits to Georges Creek to document work sessions and track rehabilitation efforts, such as in September, and will also include the first-ever passenger and freight photo charters in the months ahead.
